This time Link, coming back from a deep sleep or slumber is awakened by a mysterious voice that guides him to find out what exactly happened to the Hyrule, now a ruined kingdom. In his quest to find the truth, Link meets an old man who informs him that some 100 years ago the Kingdom of Hyrule was savaged by an evil force known as the Calamity Ganon. Since it was impossible to defeat the evil Ganon, it was sealed within the Hyrule castle and the entire kingdom crumbled and was left at the mercy of nature. But now the evil Ganon is gaining power even in its captivity and must be defeated by Link to prevent it from destroying the world.
The Legend of Zelda: Breathe of the Wild literally brings alive this open-world where the players have the freedom to move about freely. Unlike other fantasy games where things appear a little robotic, this new Zelda series follows the rules of nature. Like, if it’s cold and you are not well equipped you are going to freeze to death. The new game has more adventure, puzzles, monsters to fight and an adventurous journey that will take you through different landscapes. What makes Breath of the Wild so different and exciting than other Zelda series as well as other fantasy game series is that players are free to explore at their won space. Right from the start you will be thrown into the wonderful landscape of the game. Many have applauded the game for its beautiful, mystical and real like landscape of Hyrule. The touch of reality and the highly interactive platform makes the game even more exciting. Players get to meet new and interesting characters throughout who pose many challenges to keep your adrenaline running. Then there are interesting puzzles that will keep you entertained throughout. The best part of the game is that you can simply jump directly into the main levels and play them in whatever order you like. As for the varied landscapes that the game promises, you will have adventure in the grassy fields to alpine mountains to the snow covered areas.
As much as the Breath of the Wild offers you the freedom to wander freely anywhere you want, you will still need certain essential things to get to the next level. You are free to go in any direction in this open-world but you may have to come back with upgrade abilities to discover newer places, which are hidden or are inaccessible before the upgrade. You will also find some advanced travelling methods which just add to the excitement. You can use the Para-gliders to move across lakes and gaps and even shoot arrows at the enemy in mid-air. You will be constantly thrown puzzles and challenges that will require you to upgrade your clothes and weapons. For instance, when Link moves to the snowy landscape he needs warmer clothes and likewise when he goes to the Volcanic Death Mountain he needs flame resistant gear. This subtlety of the game makes it more real like. Like the real world, the fantasy open-world landscape is not above Mother Nature. Her powers are the constant reminders that you are not as powerful as her and need to abide by her rules. The rain and thunderstorm may delay your progress and the day/night cycle seems almost real. Night will bring you face to face with monsters that show up under the darkness of the night.
Adding to the beauty and adventure of this action-packed game is the haunting music. It creates the perfect setting, going with the flow. The melodies and sounds perfectly match your rhythm and mood and make things even more intense. The anime-inspired artwork throughout the game is the real winner. It’s breathtakingly beautiful, lively and colorful, which brings the entire landscape of Hyrule to life. The game brings the adventure to the next level with its constant demand for the players to evolve. From the choice of the weapons to new skills, you need to stay upgraded all the time to go to the next level and to survive. But, you can always go back and use the basic old tool in the new quest.
