Scooby Doo – The Childhood Animated Series Still Fresh in the Mind

Kids who grew up watching the animated series Scooby Doo in the late 1960’s will remember the theme song “Scooby-Dooby-Doo, Where Are You?” with fond memories. A team of four teenagers and a Great Dane solving mysteries while travelling in their blue van was a hugely popular TV show back then. It went on to become of the most popular franchises.

Since its release the Scooby Doo story has been portrayed in several spin-offs, movies and TV series as well. It has inspired a plethora of merchandise including some cool t-shirt designs. The story of the talking dog is still popular with kids and adults as well.

The Story of Four Teenagers and a Dog

There is no denying that the Dog, Scooby-Doo is the main attraction of the series. The Great Dane has won many hearts with his intelligence and antics all these decades.

During this 45 years since its inception, the series has been canceled, rebooted, re-introduced, re-written, and what not. It is still considered as a great animated TV series. The story follows the adventure of the four teenagers Fred, Daphne, Velma and Shaggy and Great Dane Scooby-doo. They are part of an organization they call Mystery Inc and always travelling in their van attending school functions while solving a new mystery in every episode. The mysteries always involved the group preventing some villain from creating havoc. Each case is unusual and different than the last one and it takes the effort of the entire team to solve the mystery.

One of the key elements in the series is that their van, the Mystery Machine is always breaking down at some pretense and they end up volunteering for solving a case. Each case involves looking for the clues and fighting the villains and revealing of the crime or scam.

Lovable Character of the Scooby Doo

Scooby Doo has some of the most interesting and memorable characters. Each character is different and has quirks and habits that define them. Interestingly it’s the same characters traits that help solve the mysteries.

  1. Scooby Doo

Scooby Doo undoubtedly is the most popular as well as loved character of the series. He is brown in color with a few distinct black spots on the body. He has a speech impediment and pronounces words with the “r” before every one of them. One of the main character traits of Scooby Doo is that he is really a coward and always scared. He is most close to Shaggy. In fact they both share similar character traits like both being super scared of ghosts.

  1. Norville "Shaggy" Rogers

He owns the Great Dane Scooby Doo. He is very lazy and coward like the dog. He is more interested in eating than anything else and often forgets about the mysteries when it comes to food. He is second most popular character in the series with all his quirkiness and doped kind of personality.

  1. Velma Dinkley

Velma Dinkley is another popular character of the series best known for her smartness, intelligence and bravery. She is known to take initiative while solving a problem and often comes up with ideas and strategies to solve them.

  1. Fred Jones

He is the leader of the group and often guides them in the mystery solving process. He is smart, intelligent and a natural leader. The other team members listen to him and follows his instructions.

  1. Daphne Blake

She is the most beautiful character of the team and often gets abducted. She helps in solving the mysteries but is often considered as clumsy and sometimes a liability. But, she is one of the most lovable characters of the series.
