Star Wars – Boba Fett a hero in his Own Right

boba fett

In Star Wars, names like Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Han Solo, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Yoda rule. But, there is one character known as Boba Fett that suddenly popped up into prominence and became an instant hit with the fans.

The mystery that surrounds the character is largely behind the reason why it has become so popular. Despite being one of the villains, Boba Fett  has managed to garner much fanfare like our residential Star War villain Darth Vader.

Boba Fett is an unaltered genetic clone of another bounty hunter Jango Fett who raised Boba as his own son. Jango Fett was chosen to be the genetic template for the clone troopers.  In return for agreeing to be the genetic template, Jango asked for a clone to be created just for him without any altercation.

If you see the story that follows Boba Fett character, there is nothing much. So, what makes Boba Fett so popular? Interestingly there are a number of reasons for it. Let’s explore them:

The Original Darth Vader

Boba Fett has the coolest bounty hunter costume, originally designed for Darth Vader himself. The roles got interchanged actually. Darth Vader was to be the original bounty hunter, but his role got shaped into a Dark Knight thing. So, the role and image of the mysterious bounty hunter with a cool costume went to Boba Fett. The sheer similarity between the Darth Vader costume and Boba Fett’s is remarkable.

His Skills and talents are just as remarkable

Jango Fett taught his clone son all the martial arts and combat skills he learned while growing up. This made Boba Fett different than the other clones. He was not a robot taught to acquire skill through copying and being tied to it. Just like his father, Boba too could think smart, act and improvise like no other clone. He also felt deeply about his father and pledged revenge after Jango was killed by the Jedi Windu. Throughout the series he has been portrayed by many perhaps the only character in the entire Star War series to be played by numerous actors. He worked both for Jabba the Hut and Darth Vader and is featured in many series.

Was He ever truly dead?

Boba Fett has been brought back to life more than once. His death was a controversial one and has been reprised in the later series due to its sheer popularity. No one knew the bounty hunter was so popular. His death in the Return of the Jedi was not at all satisfactory and even George Lucas admitted he deserved a better, more dramatic and impressive death scene.

A bounty Hunter in true sense

Boba Fett acts exactly like a bounty hunter should. Despite being one of the least important characters in the Star War series, Boba Fett succeeded in carving an important place in the heart of the fans. He acts just like his late father – he is resourceful, skillful, flexible, and adept at things unlike the clones and is a total badass. The innocent face of the kid before he hid behind the coolest costume and helmet, forever remained with the fans.

Boba Fett is one of the most popular Star Wars characters and it seems it is growing still through the films series and games as well. The character has inspired merchandise including some of the coolest t-shirt designs.
